Back Before Wilma

The Bahamas were beautiful and relaxing. We really didn't do much of anything, and it was great. Here's a typical day:
• sleep in until 10:45, 11:00, 11:30, whenever we felt like it
• put on a bathing suit and lay by the ocean or the pool untli we felt hungry
• go back and put on real (summer!) clothing
• take the bus (for a dollar you could get just about anywhere) somewhere farther away from the resort to get lunch
• wander around downtown, looking at the shops and people watching
• take the bus back to the resort
• debate about where to eat dinner
• go there
• eat really good seafood
• be really stuffed
• hang out either in the resort, on the beach, or elsewhere nearby the resort
• go to bed
• sleep a REALLY long, relaxing amount of time
• rinse and repeat

Here's some answers to other stuff people have asked that you might also be wondering:
• We went because we had a week off for Fall Break (like Spring Break but in the fall, duh) and found really affordable round-trip airfare and hotel rates on Hotwire. There's a link below.
• The American dollar and the Bahamean dollar have approximately the same value.
• Even though nothing was taxed, it was all still highly priced and typically useless.
• Did you know Bacardi is made in the Bahamas and you could get a liter for about $8.00?
• Regardless, drinks were still really expensive. A 20 oz. bottle of soda was a whopping $2.50.
• We had to go through three of four security checkpoints or "random screenings" to get out of the Bahamas, but zero to re-enter the United States.
• The resort had FIVE towers of rooms with anywhere from 11 to 14 floors. HUGE! Each tower was hollow down the middle and had palm trees and other tropical plants.
• Did I mention food was freakishly expensive? Moreover, almost every dish on any given menu was deep fried.
• No, the Wyndam wasn't anywhere near the quality I had expected; although, they had fresh complimentary golden delicious apples daily at the front desk.
• The ocean really wasn't that cold. It was refreshing, and it didn't seem as salty as what I remember of the Atlantic on the coast of Florida or Georgia.
• Even though it rained every day, sometimes it was in the morning before I got up or in the afternoon but only for a half hour to an hour or so, so it wasn't really an inconvenience at all.

Did I not answer something you wanna know? Just ask. Here's the view from our second room's balcony. It's kind of blurry, but it was that or losing the beautiful colors of the sunset. You can see the pool off to the bottom left area, and the ocean is right behind the last row of palm trees on the top part. I believe the light you see in the background was from another island, but I'm not sure which.

It Never Ends

Again, it's been a while. My birthday was alright, but surprisingly stressful. Lots of stuff due, had to go to class, had to do a bunch of crap. It could have been better. Oh well, there's always next year... On a side note, the facebook graced Ripon College the night of my birthday. I'm totally addicted. Wow. Just wow.

I've been working a lot this week, much to my dismay, and work again tonight and tomorrow. On the upside, tomorrow morning we're Frisbee Golfing for Leukemia with the wonderful guys of Theta Chi. I'm looking forward to it; I just hope I don't have to work too late tonight...

You know rock/paper/scissors? Well, "I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there's no fucking way Paper can beat Rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around Rock leaving it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody, a rock would tear that shit up in 2 seconds. When I play rock paper/scissors I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, oh shit, I'm sorry I thought paper would protect you, asshole."

Damn Gas Prices...

Outrageous...
I can't believe it. Seriously though,
 National Prices

So it made me kind of upset to see that gas anywhere in this country is still under $2/gal when I just paid almost the national high to fill up my tank. Damn hurricanes and whatnot...

Friday night I saw Ben Vance play at the Walworth County Fair with many others from Ripon College. He rocked. I taped the whole thing -- okay, from the grandstands -- and it's not as bad as I thought it would be, so shoot me an e-mail if you'd like a copy. Maybe I'll even make the treck down the stairs and get him to autograph the DVDs. Yeah, that's right, I live in the same dorm as a celebrity... Well, close.

Anyway, I'm very tired, work sucked, and I'm going to bed.

School Started

...Which explains my lack of posting. My professors wasted no time burrying me in assignments. I have so much to do now I don't know where to begin. All in all I don't have a tough schedule at all. 2 regular Monday classes and 1 3-hour Monday night, 2 on Tuesday, 3 on Wednesday, 1 on Thursday, and 2 on Friday, done by 2:00. I never start earlier than 11:15, and that's only two days a week. Books were sickeningly cheap this semester. This is probably turning out to be the best semester of my life.

Oh, except work. My new boss is insane. It like he hears "I want to work full time" when I'm really saying "I need fewer hours cuz school is starting up." He schedules me when I've asked off weeks in advance, and I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm a shady employee, which is bullshit.

Enough about work, I'm getting all pissed just thinking about it. I have to go try to accomplish something...

I'm Back...

It seems like whenever I move into a new place it takes half my stay to get the internet working. I'm in, and I have wireless, but I am -- and will remain -- without my Replay TV. I am deeply saddened. The place is really nice, though. I'm glad I made the switch.

Alas, I move back into the dorms in 12 days. Work has been really hectic, and this week is no exception. I have a great day off on Sunday: the weather was nice, we went to the beach, cooked out for dinner, just perfect. I worked a really long shift at the BoatHouse Monday, like 16 hours, closed Grey Rock on Tuesday, and closed BoatHouse tonight. Tomorrow (well today, since it's after midnight) I close Grey Rock again, then Friday I have the pleasure of closing the BoatHouse again, which is USUALLY a good time.

Here's the great part: the concert at Alpine this week is
As a manager, I have to be at work at 7 AM. Just to lay it all out, let's assume Graham and I close BoatHouse at bar time (2:30 AM) and are really efficient cleaning up afterward, I might be able to optimistically leave arount 3:30 AM (yet highly doubtful). Then, assuming I'm all packed and don't need to stop at my apartment, I could be home around 5:30 AM (again, being optimistic). If I have to leave for Alpine around 6:30 AM, that gives me maybe a half hour or less to take a power nap, Allowing no time to unpack my car or anything along those lines. I'm sure it'll be a late night at Alpine Saturday since nothing ever balances, and with my luck I'll be scheduled to open Sunday morning back in Green Lake.

If I live through this week, we'll see when I find time to post again.

1. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.
2. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says, "I'll serve you, but don't start anything."
3. Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.
4. A dyslexic man walks into a bra.
5. A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm and says: "A beer please, and one for the road."
6. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other: "Does this taste funny to you?"
7. "Doc, I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home.'"
"That sounds like Tom Jones Syndrome."
"Is it common?"
" Well, It's Not Unusual."
8. Two cows are standing next to each other in a field.
Daisy says to Dolly, "I was artificially inseminated this morning."
"I don't believe you," says Dolly
"It's true, no bull!" exclaims Daisy.
9. An invisible man marries an invisible woman. The kids were nothing to look at either.
10. Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.
11. I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.
12. A man woke up in a hospital after a serious accident. He shouted, "Doctor, doctor, I can't feel my legs!"
The doctor replied, "I know you can't - I've cut off your arms!"
13. I went to a seafood disco last week. I pulled a mussel.
14. What do you call a fish with no eyes?
A fsh.
15. Two termites walk into a bar. One asks, "Is the bar tender here?"
16. Two fish swim into a concrete wall. The one turns to the other and says "Dam!".
17. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.
18. Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says "I've lost my electron,"
The other says, "Are you sure?"
The first replies "Yes, I'm positive."
19. Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? His goal was transcend dental medication.
20. A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal;" The other goes to a family in Spain, and they name him "Juan."
Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal.
Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."
21. These friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds. Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition was unfair. He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not. He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him.
So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to "persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop.
Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that only Hugh can prevent florist friars.
22. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him...
...A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis!

I realize it has been quite a long time since I have posted (again), but I'm still here. I was just able to take a mini-vacation to my own home this past Wednesday and Thursday thanks to 2 perfectly placed days off of work. Wednesday was overcast throughout the afternoon, so I went just stopped off at the mall on my drive home. Thursday afternoon was very relaxing, just laying on the lake with friends, and Thursday night was another awesome volleyball win.

Before work back in Green Lake on Friday, I had to stop in Madison to be measured for a dress I'll be wearing in a fashion-sculpture exhibit in Madison in early September. I'm gonna have a pretty sweet get-up, so let me know if you're interested in going to see it: spectators are welcome. I also got a sweet seatbelt tan from all the driving...

I'll be home again tomorrow and possibly Tuesday, depending on work schedules. I'm off to work again, as susal...

New Recipies

So I've been working a lot lately. Nothing too exciting. Well there is, but I've talked about it so many times I don't feel like retelling my story again. If you really would like to know you can e-mail me or try to catch me online, which seems to be equally difficult lately. I'm thinking about adding these to my martery or mixology. Thoughts?

Yes, I AM Alive...

So we just got the internet installed in our apartment today. I'm pretty sure the ol blog will be getting some more atttention again. My dad sent me this recently and I found it interesting, so I thought this would be the perfect place to share:

States Ranked: Smartest to Dumbest

The smartest state in the union for the second consecutive year is Massachusetts.

The dumbest, for the third year in a row, is New Mexico.

These are the findings of the Education State Rankings, a survey by Morgan Quitno Press of hundreds of public school systems in all 50 states. States were graded on a variety of factors based on how they compare to the national average. These included such positive attributes as per-pupil expenditures, public high school graduation rates, average class size, student reading and math proficiency, and pupil-teacher ratios. States received negative points for high drop-out rates and physical violence.

Way to go Wisconsin! Not bad. Nonetheless I'm still glad to have a break from school. Work has been...well...work, but at least they can't give me homework. It's been really rainy here the past week, which is sort of depressing, but the week prior was gorgeous. I went home for a few days and laid out on the lake and did some wakeboarding. It was great.

Hope everyone's summer is going well!

The World Free of Internet...

So I haven't posten in 11 days now BECAUSE my new apartment in Ripon is not connected to the internet. Hopefully it will be sometime, but as of right not it's not, and yes, I'm very sad. I don't have much of interest to post, but you are all welcome to visit my apartment; just call to make sure I'm there first.

Work this week is slow because I didn't let my boss know I'd be available to work this week (oops), but next week should be better. Tuesday I trained to bartend at Grey Rock, and all night we had 8 people eat dinner; I got 2 who wandered up after dinner for a drink before they went back to their rooms for bed. They had two Johnnie Walker Blues on the rocks, for $20.75 each! So I made $8 at the very end of the night, and got paid to watch TV for the first 8 hours I was working. Pretty much sucked. I work at Grey Rock again Thursday (tomorrow); hopefully it'll be busier. Saturday I have a wedding, and with any luck, I'll be busier next week.

I don't have anything else to share, so I'll leave some random links:

Winding Down

So the Axe promotion Saturday at Mifflin was the best. Here's a picture of the 8 of us that did it, and the pimp in the middle if the guy who owned the house where we were working. I think I saw every East Troy High School graduate who goes to Madison while I was working...

For those who haven't heard yet, we had setup kinda like a carwash, and volunteers could come and get washed. Oh, here's the best part: We had to wear a bikini and were given a little black tankt top to wear over it; it was about 50 degrees out, and when we left (early, actually), around 5:00 it started SNOWING! Briefly, but here we are soaking wet in bikinis on Mifflin St. in Madison and it's snowing. Yes, I swear there's gotta be some reason I'm here in Wisconsin, just can't place my finger on it.

6 days until finals are over. I can't wait. So much end-of-the-year stress! It looks like I'll be staying at home in East Troy again this summer. Would have liked to stay up here and work, but couldn't find somewhere to stay. Oh well: no rent, fewer miles (hopefully) on mi carro, don't have to pay for food, I'm sure I'll do my laundry more frequently... There are definitel up-sides.

I'll have some more links and pictures later hopefully. Much to busy at this point, but they're on the way!

3 Class Days Left

I can't wait for this semester to be over. Just got pictures made from both formals, a few from Colorado, and some random others. Since it was requested, here's one of my date, Brian, (on the right) and I. The guy on the left it Vic Magnus, our Diamond King.

Finals end Monday the 8th, so you'll probably hear from me sporadically until then.

3 Very Hectic Weeks

Yes, it's been forever! Lots of work; lots of catching up on schoolwork; a couple formals; lots of OC obligations. Where does the time go? a week and a half left until finals start, 7 days of class.

Maybe sometime I'll find some time to post a few pictures, but no guarentees.

I don't really have any specific stories to share since it's been tooo long, so I'll just share some links I've accumulated:

Back from Colorado

I think this is the most interesting family picture we've ever taken. It was taken on our last day out there at Breckenridge. We also skied Keystone and Vail. Of the three, Vail was my favorite: it has more people, but it was so much bigger that everyone was spread out over the various mountains, and the runs were less crowded, especially when you got to the more difficult ones.

I'll have more pictures and more to share later, but know that I'm pretty behind in class work and have some mad coon-eyes...

Kelly: Yo, what's a polygon.
Niko: Oh my god, you aren't in school.
Kelly: So, I wanna stay educated, what's a polygon.
Niko: Well poly, meaning many, and gon meaning...
Kelly: Gon...what the fuck is a gon?

Sara: Why don't you wear a condom?
Mark: Because you're not promiscuous, if you were promiscuous then I'd wear a condom.
Sara: So it wouldn't bother you if was promiscuous?
Mark: Of course it would bother me, you know how I hate wearing a condom.

Leaving Tomorrow

I know I haven't been on here in a while, but I've been really busy with work this past week and trying to get everything done before we leave for Colorado tomorrow morning. That of course is in addition to the extra life drama lately. I'll spare you.

I just got a new digital camcorder just in time for the trip. I hope to come home with some great shots like that one. If I get any, I'll be sure to share. I don't have much to else to say, but here are some links for your entertainment:

Life is a Highway

So it's been a while, but I've been kept busy with the new damage to my car. For those swho haven't heard the story yet, I was completely stopped, waiting in a left turn lane for the Ford Windstar in front of me. Since the traffic was pretty steady and I wasn't expecting to be able to go anytime soon, I was cleaning up some stuff in my car, and I look up to see her back up lights on. Apparently she got sick of waiting and was going to just back up and keep going down the freeway until there was another place to turn left. She was in a hurry, so she said she glanced behind her and didn't see anyone, threw it in reverse and hit the gas. Lucky for me (sarcasm), I have a little car. We called the cops, and they wrote up a report (just in case).

The visible damage pretty much amounted to the 2-inch (if that) crack in the bumper below the driver's front headlight as you can see here: My poor car : ( I had to go back to Concours (the lease company) to get an estimate. Apparently there's something internally wrong with the driver's headlight, so that has to be replaced, as does the entire front bumper. You add in the cost of the parts, alignment, paint, labor, and another Mazda logo and we have ourselves a $1,534.61 repair bill. Wouldn't you know there's no damage to her vehicle?

Friday I cleaned the inside of my car, so whenever I find time to leave my car at the dealership for a week, the whole thing will be as good as new. : )

In other news, my family is getting a new Suburban. I really think this was a spur of the moment decision, because I never really heard about it before "hey Rebecca, want to go look at Suburbans tonight?" on Wednesday, and Saturday morning we have a new one sitting in our driveway. Not that I'm complaining. 9 years newer is a lot nicer.

Time to go do taxes. Keep your fingers crossed for a return!

Lunch Rocks!

Good thing my daddy blocked out 12-1 on his schedule so no one would schedule a crappy lunch meeting. Hahaha, suckers! :-P

Blue and Yellow Purple Hills

I spent Friday and Saturday with Emily in Madison. That was fun. Driving there in a freakin blizzard was not. The whole time I was there it was freezing. Not even the kind of freezing where you could walk quickly from place to place, either; the kind of freezing that bore through even my ski coat within 3 minutes of being outdoors. Burrr!

Now I should be home for the rest of Spring Break. Okay, that's a blatent lie: I'll probably spend a lot of time in Milwaukee cuz there's nothing to do here and no one to see, so I might as well go somewhere else.

Check this jazz:
I think I've figured out what I want to be... :-D

My Lovely Tuesday

We need to rename Tuesday "Stressday." I got home about an hour and a half ago (around 12:15 Wednesday morning) for the first time since I left my room this morning at about 9:45. Guess who left her curling iron on... ; ) Oops.

I took my calc exam this morning which went less than stellar, but better than I'd expected.

I almost missed my composite photos, but narrowly made my appointment time. Luckily (sarcasm) they were running about a half hour behind schedule, consuming all of my time to eat lunch.

I got a bagel at the pub and ate it on my way to class, for which I was 5 minutes late.

I went to Human Nature at 2:00 which turned out being a majority of lecture as opposed to mini-group discussion followed by large group sharing of mini-group discussion, which is the biggest waste of time ever. Of course since he loves to hear himself talk, class can over. THEN he had to hand back papers (on which I got an A cuz I rock).

I left Ripon about 4:08 and was supposed to be to work at 4:00. Punched in around 20 after. It was relatively steady, and tips were good, especially for a Tuesday, but work sucked a lot today. I don't really have a specific reason, but it did.

Then I came home and got a massage, which almost made my day seem a little better, even though I know the rest of this week is going to be just as crazy.

First midterm tomorrow for which I've had no time to look over the materials. Yesssssssss. Wish me luck!

Gotta Love Wisconsin Weather...

Yesterday was GORGEOUS! 50's, sunny, blue skies... It was my first drive with the top down since I've had the car, and I loved every mile. (couldn't find a picture in gray)

This morning I wake up and it's freezing rain. I guess the top won't be coming down again for a while. Hopefully Spring Break (4.5 days and counting...) is nice, cuz I made a CD of obnoxious songs I can blast while I'm driving around. I still have no plans for break, which is working out okay since this week is becoming more and more stressful.

On a happier note, I missed about a week of computer science class. I came back for the first time today, and I'm about a half-day behind the rest of the class, if that. Plus I tought myself some math function stuff we hadn't yet learned how to program. But of course that's because I rock.

Sickness still here but seems to be fading. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Friday: Just What the Doctor Ordered

Still sick, but I saw the nurse today. We did a mono test and found out that was negative, which is great. (I posted a link to the info since I know someone will ask.) Now she's thinking it might be a bad strain of the flu. Either way, she recommended a bunch of over the counter stuff I can try over the weekend to releive symptoms. If I still feel shitty Monday, I'm supposed to come in and see the doctor.

I only missed one class today, so I'm getting better with that! Work was rough since I was pretty out of it the whole night. The people that came in were cool, though. Good tips even though it was pretty slow. I'm excited that I found a replacement for my waitressing shift tomorrow and can bartend the wedding party at Grey Rock, the fine dining restaurant on property. All and all, it should be a nice tip weekend.

On a sadder note, Theta Chi initiation weekend has taken over what seems like all my best guy friends. This is very depressing, and I have no one's ass to kick in Mario Kart. Next week should be better. Congrats to all those new thetas on their initiation, and congrats to the rest of the house on their new class. I'm sad I'll be in Colorado on April 2nd and will miss my first theta formal since I've been at Ripon. I hope I hear lots of stories.

I also wish my car had some of these security systems, particularly the last one...

Vanessa: He just likes her because he wants to make out with her. Admit it, that's all men ever want.
Pat: Alright, I admit it, we all have penises and we just want to see if they work.

Police officer: You're lucky I didn't give you a DUI tonight.
Sean: And I'd like to know just how you were going to do that. I blew a 0.002 and when you talked to me I wasn't in my car. So honestly, not only did you not have the UI...you were fresh out of D also.

Life in a Haze

I'm sicker than yesterday. This is awful. And going to class while you're sick is such a waste of time: you just sit there and don't really absorb or contribute anything. Pointless. On a brighter note, guys who can dance are really hot...

Oh, so is this boy, and today's his birthday:

Not-So-Happy Humpday

Sick girl is back for another term. I'm not sure what I'm sick with exactly, but the nurse tried a strep test, which came back negative. So I know it's not that, but she's also worried about mono. That's something I don't want to re-live. :( I managed to make it to one class today. Being behind is not going to be fun, so hopefully I'm feeling a little better tomorrow.

I got a haircut today, I like it. Cut about 6-7 inches off. I don't have much else to add, except some people have asked me to post some new links:

Rebecca: Cars do whatever we tell them to do. They're our bitches.
Melinda: Yeah, we ride them.

Coo: What movie is this?
Pete: That's Jason's Dick.
Coo: That's horribly disturbing.
Pete: It sounded ok in my head.

Weekly Recap

It's been a busy busy week. I worked last week Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Obviously that's good for the pocketbook, but it takes up a lot of time too. Had a couple large projects due, have a speech approaching for which I have no topic yet, another project due Monday. OC selection finalized this week, so there was a lot of closing work there and prep work for upcoming meetings. ADPi stuff seems to be slowing down a little right now, but it'll be crazy this upcoming week. I got 100% on my Alpha test, and diamond days are this week. Hopefully the homework load it light so I can keep up, since the work schedule is pretty heavy.

I'm bringing back the dumb college quotes:

Kristy: I've heard spreading peanut butter on a TV screen makes it explode.
Cammy: Let's try it!
Kristy: No way!
Cammy: Why not?
Kristy: Because it's my TV!
Cammy: ...it's my peanut butter.
-Experiments in electricity and food

Joe: Hey guys, someone broke into my house last night and stole all my watches. Ross you're gonna get a phone call from the cops tomorrow.
Ross: Am I a suspect?
Joe: You're all suspects!
Gary: What is this, a fucking game of Clue?

Doug: You and the pizza can race, whichever gets here first can have all my attention.
Shannon: Oh you are such a sweetheart.
Doug: My parents had sex and made me that way.

Monday Brief

I've been very busy again this week. Luckily homework due Monday was sparse since I had to work all weekend. Friday and Saturday were good: lots of parties with large bills that we could auto-18%-grat. Helps. Mondays suck with all the classes though. I need to get more sleep. Sorry for the short update; there will be more tomorrow.

Hello Again

I feel like I'm starting a whole new blog, I've been gone so long.

Life has been very busy and especially hectic since my schedule has always been on computer, and I haven't had mine. I've been holding it down, as always, though. I've taken on the Orientation Committee Chair position, which consumes quite a bit of time, and I am going through the ADPi pledge process. Oh yeah, and I'm still working at the Heidel House. Busy busy busy!!

Hopefully my life will slowly piece itself back into something I can manage, especially with this semester's extra home-work-intensice nature. Nevertheless, there are some new links around that you should check out if you're bored. I'll do my best to keep you updated on my hectic and oh-so-interesting life. ; )

My Hard Disk Crashed

Yes, that is a bad thing. No, it's not fixed yet. I'm using other people's computers whenever I can. It's been down for a week now, and I really think I'm suffering from withdrawals. I really felt the urge to share some of the things I've been e-mailed, though:

For all the women who can't write their names in the snow
What I want to do to my $1500 paperweight (laptop)
I still love this website: so informative!
Here's a game for wasting time
Weirdest car commercial ever
Great scam on eBay

No guarentees when the next post will be, so hopefully this holds you over. : )

eBay

Here are some cartoons that represent my eBaying experience in some way:

Ahhh, raping buyers on shipping... : )

This better be appreciated...

One Day Until Ripon

The past few days my dad has had me post a bunch of crap on eBay. Now that all the auctions are finishing and everything sold, apparently it's my job to package everything, do all of the post-sale communications, and make sure everything gets sent. It's a pain in the ass.

I've also gotten to spend a lot of time with friends in the past few days. I went shopping with Emily on Sunday, and Monday we went to brunch with another friend Jessica, then we all went to Goodwill. All of us found stuff, too. Monday night, Katie, Emily and I got together at my house, ordered pizza, and finally exchanged our Christmas presents. Tuesday I went shopping with Kate, who I haven't seen since Halloween. It was good to catch up. Emily is back at school now, Katie's working all the time, and Kate's back to being super mom and only ever seeing her boyfriend. Yes, that is annoying. Everyone else has already gone back to school, or doesn't go to college ans works full time.

That means today I get to ship stuff out, pack up my own belongings, and get everything into the Suburban for the drive back to Ripon tomorrow. Tonight I'm going TV shopping with my dad since my roommate is moving out and the TV was hers. I'm meeting him in Milwaukee at 4:45, so all of this has to be done by then. Wish me luck!

Back From My Work Weekend

So I went up to Ripon this weekend to work. I hid out on campus...in my own dorm room...with a car in the lot with a license plate that reads "PERK UP" (my mom's). I missed the RA check the 1st night, even though I accidentally left a light on in my room before I left for work that day. The swimmers moved in Friday too, and I'm guessing if the RA noticed, she assumed my room was a swimmer room too, since the girls down the hall are. 2nd night was close-call-free. In case you're unfamiliar with the process, I had to "hide out" in my own room because if you're staying the night on campus after you were supposed to have moved out and before you are scheduled to move back in, you have to pay $25 a night. I was a tad worried about having my mom's car parked in a campus lot because campus parking tickets are $50 without a permit, which her car does not have, and parking on the street was not an option because the police ticket during fron November til April for snow removal (even though there's still snow everywhere). No glitches, though. I'm like McGuyver...

Working was maybe worth it... I worked Friday and Saturday, 4 until close both days, the best two days out of the week. I can definitely say that I DON'T like the new tips policy. We are no9w getting all charge tips in our paycheck, so we only leave with whatever tips we made in cash. When you're working in a restaurant in a hotel-type place, a lot of people room CHARGE or use a CHARGE card, so cash tips aren't common. I left Friday night with 50 cents in my pocket. :-/ Saturday was better, but nothing great. This sucks.

I went shopping with Emily today. Katie didn't come because she opted to stay in EauClaire and shop with her not-boyfriend-(maybe?)-'s little sister. Pff. Em and I got some great deals though, which rocks. We came home to dinner at my house, which was delicious. Had an interesting drive home: my driveway was black ice and we started slipping sideways just before the crest (my driveway is a huge hill, for those of you who don't know). My first reaction was to hit the breaks, which I realized was the worst idea ever as soon as I did it. Super Rebecca saved the day, though, and after leaving half my tires on the driveway I managed to get the car up the hill. I have a little research to do on traction control and if my car has it. If it doesn't I have no idea how we got up the hill at all. Miracles do happen, people.

My ReplayTV for my dorm room is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. The tracking last said it was in Oak Creek, which isn't far. Now all I need to get is a TV to hook it up to in my room... That's this week's task... We also need a bigger fridge and a microwave. Oh, by we I mean I. (Double-single room this semester, in case you're not up to date.) So much to do, so little cash...

On that note, I'm going to go sit on my ass in the TV room.

P.S. Here's some info on Strep

OC Update

As promised, for those still a little confused:

I Love Thursdays

Reason 1: The OC
Well I've devised a chart for all of you that ahave problems watching the OC, because it is wonderful, and no one should miss out on seeing it because they don't know what's going on. I haven't watched tonight's episode yet, so I'm not posting it, but I will after I see it. We started dinner at 7:00, of course, so I'm waiting for it to finish recording before I start watching it.

Reason 2: No More Strep
I woke up this morning not feeling very shitty at all. I've had strep the past few days, which is why there has been no actual posts up. I detected the symptoms early, though, and I attribute my quick recovery to that.

Reason 3: The Dawn of Money
I work at the Heidel House this weekend, even though I'm on break. I haven't been bale to work at Roma's at all over break, so I figured I'd make the trip back to Green Lake. Apparently I was supposed to be scheduled Saturday close and Sunday open. Knowing full well that Sunday open I wouldn't make enough to make the trip worth it, I told my boss I'd made arrangements under the asumption that I was working Friday close and Saturday close (which is what I was originally told) and wasn't sure if I'd be able to rearrange. I asked if I could be switched, and she made it happen. Yay for head-waitress-ship. Friday and Saturday nights should be a better shot at money.

Reason 3.5: Going Back, But Not
This is only really half a reason since it ties into the previous. I'm loving the idea of going back to school, but not actually having to go to classes. Sometime Sunday I'll come home and still have a week of vacation left, which is always nice.

If you haven't already, check out the new links and stuff on top. Have a good weekend. : )

Happy 2005

New Years Eve was a blast. Nice and drama-filled like most of my life (sarcasm...about the "nice" part...in case you're "slow"). Overall it'd rate pretty awesome on the New Year's Eve Nights I currently recall, though, so it wasn't really that bad. Apparently I'm just a drama queen, as accusations say. If you want names/details/general gossip, you'll have to talk to me directly. (I'm taking a hint from Steph)

Anyway, I realized I need a new phone. Mine is on crack: delays, takes a long time to load, randomly decides to turn itself off for no apparent reason, etc. Any suggestions, send them my way.

Hope everyone else had a good New Year's too. If you wanna shoot me an e-mail I get those often, AIM if I'm around, or my cell are all great options. 13 days until the move back into Ripon. *sigh*
