Back Before Wilma

The Bahamas were beautiful and relaxing. We really didn't do much of anything, and it was great. Here's a typical day:
• sleep in until 10:45, 11:00, 11:30, whenever we felt like it
• put on a bathing suit and lay by the ocean or the pool untli we felt hungry
• go back and put on real (summer!) clothing
• take the bus (for a dollar you could get just about anywhere) somewhere farther away from the resort to get lunch
• wander around downtown, looking at the shops and people watching
• take the bus back to the resort
• debate about where to eat dinner
• go there
• eat really good seafood
• be really stuffed
• hang out either in the resort, on the beach, or elsewhere nearby the resort
• go to bed
• sleep a REALLY long, relaxing amount of time
• rinse and repeat

Here's some answers to other stuff people have asked that you might also be wondering:
• We went because we had a week off for Fall Break (like Spring Break but in the fall, duh) and found really affordable round-trip airfare and hotel rates on Hotwire. There's a link below.
• The American dollar and the Bahamean dollar have approximately the same value.
• Even though nothing was taxed, it was all still highly priced and typically useless.
• Did you know Bacardi is made in the Bahamas and you could get a liter for about $8.00?
• Regardless, drinks were still really expensive. A 20 oz. bottle of soda was a whopping $2.50.
• We had to go through three of four security checkpoints or "random screenings" to get out of the Bahamas, but zero to re-enter the United States.
• The resort had FIVE towers of rooms with anywhere from 11 to 14 floors. HUGE! Each tower was hollow down the middle and had palm trees and other tropical plants.
• Did I mention food was freakishly expensive? Moreover, almost every dish on any given menu was deep fried.
• No, the Wyndam wasn't anywhere near the quality I had expected; although, they had fresh complimentary golden delicious apples daily at the front desk.
• The ocean really wasn't that cold. It was refreshing, and it didn't seem as salty as what I remember of the Atlantic on the coast of Florida or Georgia.
• Even though it rained every day, sometimes it was in the morning before I got up or in the afternoon but only for a half hour to an hour or so, so it wasn't really an inconvenience at all.

Did I not answer something you wanna know? Just ask. Here's the view from our second room's balcony. It's kind of blurry, but it was that or losing the beautiful colors of the sunset. You can see the pool off to the bottom left area, and the ocean is right behind the last row of palm trees on the top part. I believe the light you see in the background was from another island, but I'm not sure which.
