Leaving Tomorrow

I know I haven't been on here in a while, but I've been really busy with work this past week and trying to get everything done before we leave for Colorado tomorrow morning. That of course is in addition to the extra life drama lately. I'll spare you.

I just got a new digital camcorder just in time for the trip. I hope to come home with some great shots like that one. If I get any, I'll be sure to share. I don't have much to else to say, but here are some links for your entertainment:

Life is a Highway

So it's been a while, but I've been kept busy with the new damage to my car. For those swho haven't heard the story yet, I was completely stopped, waiting in a left turn lane for the Ford Windstar in front of me. Since the traffic was pretty steady and I wasn't expecting to be able to go anytime soon, I was cleaning up some stuff in my car, and I look up to see her back up lights on. Apparently she got sick of waiting and was going to just back up and keep going down the freeway until there was another place to turn left. She was in a hurry, so she said she glanced behind her and didn't see anyone, threw it in reverse and hit the gas. Lucky for me (sarcasm), I have a little car. We called the cops, and they wrote up a report (just in case).

The visible damage pretty much amounted to the 2-inch (if that) crack in the bumper below the driver's front headlight as you can see here: My poor car : ( I had to go back to Concours (the lease company) to get an estimate. Apparently there's something internally wrong with the driver's headlight, so that has to be replaced, as does the entire front bumper. You add in the cost of the parts, alignment, paint, labor, and another Mazda logo and we have ourselves a $1,534.61 repair bill. Wouldn't you know there's no damage to her vehicle?

Friday I cleaned the inside of my car, so whenever I find time to leave my car at the dealership for a week, the whole thing will be as good as new. : )

In other news, my family is getting a new Suburban. I really think this was a spur of the moment decision, because I never really heard about it before "hey Rebecca, want to go look at Suburbans tonight?" on Wednesday, and Saturday morning we have a new one sitting in our driveway. Not that I'm complaining. 9 years newer is a lot nicer.

Time to go do taxes. Keep your fingers crossed for a return!

Lunch Rocks!

Good thing my daddy blocked out 12-1 on his schedule so no one would schedule a crappy lunch meeting. Hahaha, suckers! :-P

Blue and Yellow Purple Hills

I spent Friday and Saturday with Emily in Madison. That was fun. Driving there in a freakin blizzard was not. The whole time I was there it was freezing. Not even the kind of freezing where you could walk quickly from place to place, either; the kind of freezing that bore through even my ski coat within 3 minutes of being outdoors. Burrr!

Now I should be home for the rest of Spring Break. Okay, that's a blatent lie: I'll probably spend a lot of time in Milwaukee cuz there's nothing to do here and no one to see, so I might as well go somewhere else.

Check this jazz:
I think I've figured out what I want to be... :-D

My Lovely Tuesday

We need to rename Tuesday "Stressday." I got home about an hour and a half ago (around 12:15 Wednesday morning) for the first time since I left my room this morning at about 9:45. Guess who left her curling iron on... ; ) Oops.

I took my calc exam this morning which went less than stellar, but better than I'd expected.

I almost missed my composite photos, but narrowly made my appointment time. Luckily (sarcasm) they were running about a half hour behind schedule, consuming all of my time to eat lunch.

I got a bagel at the pub and ate it on my way to class, for which I was 5 minutes late.

I went to Human Nature at 2:00 which turned out being a majority of lecture as opposed to mini-group discussion followed by large group sharing of mini-group discussion, which is the biggest waste of time ever. Of course since he loves to hear himself talk, class can over. THEN he had to hand back papers (on which I got an A cuz I rock).

I left Ripon about 4:08 and was supposed to be to work at 4:00. Punched in around 20 after. It was relatively steady, and tips were good, especially for a Tuesday, but work sucked a lot today. I don't really have a specific reason, but it did.

Then I came home and got a massage, which almost made my day seem a little better, even though I know the rest of this week is going to be just as crazy.

First midterm tomorrow for which I've had no time to look over the materials. Yesssssssss. Wish me luck!

Gotta Love Wisconsin Weather...

Yesterday was GORGEOUS! 50's, sunny, blue skies... It was my first drive with the top down since I've had the car, and I loved every mile. (couldn't find a picture in gray)

This morning I wake up and it's freezing rain. I guess the top won't be coming down again for a while. Hopefully Spring Break (4.5 days and counting...) is nice, cuz I made a CD of obnoxious songs I can blast while I'm driving around. I still have no plans for break, which is working out okay since this week is becoming more and more stressful.

On a happier note, I missed about a week of computer science class. I came back for the first time today, and I'm about a half-day behind the rest of the class, if that. Plus I tought myself some math function stuff we hadn't yet learned how to program. But of course that's because I rock.

Sickness still here but seems to be fading. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Friday: Just What the Doctor Ordered

Still sick, but I saw the nurse today. We did a mono test and found out that was negative, which is great. (I posted a link to the info since I know someone will ask.) Now she's thinking it might be a bad strain of the flu. Either way, she recommended a bunch of over the counter stuff I can try over the weekend to releive symptoms. If I still feel shitty Monday, I'm supposed to come in and see the doctor.

I only missed one class today, so I'm getting better with that! Work was rough since I was pretty out of it the whole night. The people that came in were cool, though. Good tips even though it was pretty slow. I'm excited that I found a replacement for my waitressing shift tomorrow and can bartend the wedding party at Grey Rock, the fine dining restaurant on property. All and all, it should be a nice tip weekend.

On a sadder note, Theta Chi initiation weekend has taken over what seems like all my best guy friends. This is very depressing, and I have no one's ass to kick in Mario Kart. Next week should be better. Congrats to all those new thetas on their initiation, and congrats to the rest of the house on their new class. I'm sad I'll be in Colorado on April 2nd and will miss my first theta formal since I've been at Ripon. I hope I hear lots of stories.

I also wish my car had some of these security systems, particularly the last one...

Vanessa: He just likes her because he wants to make out with her. Admit it, that's all men ever want.
Pat: Alright, I admit it, we all have penises and we just want to see if they work.

Police officer: You're lucky I didn't give you a DUI tonight.
Sean: And I'd like to know just how you were going to do that. I blew a 0.002 and when you talked to me I wasn't in my car. So honestly, not only did you not have the UI...you were fresh out of D also.

Life in a Haze

I'm sicker than yesterday. This is awful. And going to class while you're sick is such a waste of time: you just sit there and don't really absorb or contribute anything. Pointless. On a brighter note, guys who can dance are really hot...

Oh, so is this boy, and today's his birthday:

Not-So-Happy Humpday

Sick girl is back for another term. I'm not sure what I'm sick with exactly, but the nurse tried a strep test, which came back negative. So I know it's not that, but she's also worried about mono. That's something I don't want to re-live. :( I managed to make it to one class today. Being behind is not going to be fun, so hopefully I'm feeling a little better tomorrow.

I got a haircut today, I like it. Cut about 6-7 inches off. I don't have much else to add, except some people have asked me to post some new links:

all the makings for a happy father's day
a lesson in non-verbal communication
weird kaleidiscope thing

Rebecca: Cars do whatever we tell them to do. They're our bitches.
Melinda: Yeah, we ride them.

Coo: What movie is this?
Pete: That's Jason's Dick.
Coo: That's horribly disturbing.
Pete: It sounded ok in my head.
